San Miguel's local gormet green.
ARUGULA!!!
Arugula is an aromatic salad green. It is also known as rocket, roquette, rugula and rucola, and is popular in Italian cuisine. Like most salad greens, Arugula is very low in calories and is high in vitamins A and C. A 1/2 cup serving is two calories.
Arugula is everywhere. I've seen it in San Antonio, Independencia, San Rafael and all other areas in between. In the photo above Chef Jason from Cafe Rama and I are harvesting Arugula out near Cieneguita on the edge of an alfalfa field. I had a hunch that the Arugula there would be greener and more tender then the stuff I see in the empty lots aorund town.
At El Gozo we've been adding it into our Jasmin Rice bowls. It's sauteed in with the vegetables. We are also adding it into our mixed green salads along with Verdulargas.

NEW MENU!!!
Okay it´s been 2 months since we opened the doors to El Gozo. We´ve improved the menu and now offer an wider range of items. The menu has been in trial run for several weeks. Think pub food. The butterfly shrimp basket is filling with 12 medium shrimp and fries. We make it all in house including the cesar dressing and cocktail sauce.
Boneless wings have been popular. I like watching Rosa filet the meat off the bone.
